Obituary: Georger E. Power Jr., Former Owner of Johnny's Texaco Station

George E. Power Jr., 71, a resident of Easton for the past 33 years, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton from injuries sustained from a motor vehicle while walking his dog "Lucky" who also died. He was the husband of Christine J. (LeBreton) Power for 33 years.

Born in Norwood on April 25, 1942, a son of the late George E. and Kathleen (Willis)Power, he was raised in Stoughton and was a graduate of Boston College High School. He continued his education at Bentley College and was drafted in the US Army during the Vietnam War serving as a Specialist 4th Class.

Upon honorable discharge, he began working as a manager for Johnny's Texaco Station in Stoughton and later purchased the business and became the proprietor and operator for more 20 years.

An avid softball player, he was a member of the Stoughton Softball League, a former member of the Stoughton Bowling League and the Stoughton Cribbage Club. He enjoyed greyhound racing.

A devoted husband, father, brother and friend, George loved the company of his faithful dog "Lucky".

In addition to his wife Christine, he is survived by his adult children, Dr. Karlie A.Power of Miami, FL., and Kyle R. Power of Charlestown; his sister, Dorothy Greene of Cohasset; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Holy Cross Church 225 Purchase Street, Easton. Interment with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:45 p.m.
