Obituary: Agnes (Wilkinson) Steevens, Worked as a Social Worker

Agnes (Wilkinson) Steeves, 92, formally of Stoughton, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at Peach Tree Place in Weatherford, TX. after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Vaughan Steeves, whom she shared 64 years of marriage.

Born in Boston on August 12, 1921, a daughter of the late William and Sarah (McMahan) Wilkinson, she was raised in Boston and was a graduate of Jeremiah E. Burke High School.

She lived in Boston and Cambridge, moving to Stoughton in 1972. Agnes was employed as a social worker for the City of Boston.

An active fundraiser volunteer for the American Cancer Society since 1950, she was a member of the Eastern Star, the Rainbow Girls, and the Philathia Society.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington St. (Rte.138) Easton, followed by a funeral service at 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Because of floral restrictions at the cemetery, donations in Agnes' memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 5 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA. 02379.
