Healthy Living

Healthy living

The cycle of healthy living is constant, always flowing and never changes. All the pieces need to be there or else the cycle falls apart.

Lately, I’ve fallen off the cycle. Why? It could be the holiday, it could be my lack of time due a lot of things going on at work or it could be because I just didn’t want to do it. Well, regardless of what it is…it is an excuse. You know what they say about excuses…everyone has one, right?

The last two weeks I have had nothing but excuses in my vocabulary and I do not like it. Even though I have had a lot going on, I do not want excuses in my vocabulary as they can prevent me from reaching my goals, regardless of what they may be.

Like I said, the cycle of healthy living HAS to include all of the pieces or else it falls apart. What piece did I lose then? In the past few weeks, it is definitely regular exercise. What got me off my routine? Unfortunately, it was a massive head cold that lasted two weeks.  I had to listen to my body so I didn't exercise; instead I took it easy and relaxed more so I could get rid of the head cold.

Every other piece of the puzzle was there, though. I stuck to eating healthy and monitoring my diet. I still drank my Shakeology and ate all the food groups like I should.  I remained positive, knowing that the head cold would go away eventually. Plus, I had several interviews at my full time job for a great position and each time I went in for another interview, I felt really great about how each one went. And I was feeling good too. This was because I was eating healthy and because I was thinking positive each day. But, I still was not living healthy.

So what’s the moral of this story? We all fall off the horse every now and then but if you are in the right mindset, you will get up and get back on that horse. As you go through life, be conscious of the decisions you make. Tell yourself that:

  • you WILL exercise regularly (approximately 4-5 times per week)
  • you WILL eat better (eat more fruits, veggies and lean proteins)
  • you WILL think positively every day (you can be realistic, but not negative)
  • you WILL feel good about yourself, your actions and how your life is going
If you incorporate these four things into your life, you will reach your goals in life and ultimately experience healthy living.
