Local Family Seeks Support After Home Burns Down

A family was displaced after a fire just before Christmas.

A local family is still seeking support after their home burned down just two days before Christmas.

On Dec. 23, just two days before this past Christmas, the home of a local family burned to the ground, according to a GoFundMe page set up to raise money in support of them finding a new home.

The family lost everything in the fire, including their Christmas gifts, and was displaced but able to live in a hotel provided by the Red Cross and the Norwood Fire Department. The family, also on the hunt to rent a home with two or more bedrooms in the area of Walpole, Norwood, or Westwood, was able to find a new home as of late January, but were still struggling with necessities.

The effort has raised $1,460 with a goal of raising at least $7,500 for the family. The page is currently still accepting donations.

"If you can find it in your heart to make any donation, it will be greatly appreciated, and again thank you to those who have already helped out so much," Kurt A. Gaibl, who set up the GoFundMe page, said on the site.
