Jewish Folk Musician Daniel Gil To Perform at Stoughton Public Library

Boston, MA – July 22,
2014
– Jewish folk musician and composer, Daniel Gil, will present a free
musical performance at the Worcester Public Library on Wednesday, October 1,
2014 from 7:00 – 8:00 PM.

Gil will be performing a selection of music from his most
recent CD, Hava Nagila, For Real. Accompanied
by his guitar, bouzouki and violin, Gil will also be sharing stories of the
history of his music.

Hava Nagila, For Real,
consists of songs that represent a part of Jewish civilization that was lost
during the Holocaust. Both this performance and album are unique, as these
songs are the only modern recordings that come directly from transcriptions
made by the St. Petersburg Society for Jewish Folk Music, which was founded in
1908 with the mission to collect Jewish folk songs from people living in the
“Pale of Settlement”, which was a region of Imperial Russia in which Jews were
allowed permanent residency.
