Danny Nickerson is a 5 year old who was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). DIPG is a brain tumor that is located in the Pons of the brain stem (diagnosed between age 5 and 10). It is rare, inoperable, and there is no cure to date. Treatments, such as Chemotherapy and Radiation, typically do not work. These treatments slow the tumor down for a short period of time. Once the tumor starts to grow again, it robs the child of their ability to move, swallow, and breathe. The life expectancy from the time of diagnosis is 6 to 9 months, with only 1% surviving up to 18 months. There are no living survivors from this tumor. We pray daily for a miracle for Danny.

Danny enjoys video games, hide and go seek with his cousins, and idolizes Mario Brothers and firefighters and police officers. Danny takes his big brother role (to Mathew(4)) very seriously. Danny started kindergarten in September and loved riding the big yellow bus.

“I am truly looking forward to planning this event with Lauren and Hero Helpers of America to make Danny’s Family Fun Day something Danny and my family will never never forget” Gail Chamberlin, aunt of Danny said.
