No Trash Pickup in Stoughton on MLK Day

There will be no curbside trash collection on Monday, January 21, 2013, in observance of MLK Day.

Trash collection for 1/21 will be scheduled for Tuesday, January 22 in addition to the regular Tuesday collection. This is standard procedure for any holiday.  

For safety reasons, the Stoughton DPW will discontinue pickup at dark on Tuesday, January 22. Any rubbish not picked up on Tuesday, January 22 will be picked up on Wednesday, January 23.

All rubbish and recyclables must be curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection day. No barrel over 30-gallon size will be emptied. Large household appliances (metal items) must be called into the Public Works for appointment for pickup.

Stoughton Clergy to Commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr.

The following is from the Stoughton Clergy Association:

The Stoughton Clergy Association invites you to a program commemorating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Jan. 21 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day) beginning at 7 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. 

Clergy and youth of the Stoughton community will present the words of Dr. King as part of this hour-long program. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. It is open to the community - All are welcome!

Stoughton High Senior Class Fundrasier Monday at the Ninety Nine

The Stoughton High senior class (Class of 2013) will be holding a fundraiser at the Ninety Nine restuarant in Easton at 99 Belmont St./Route 123 (near Stonehill College), Monday, Jan. 21 from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Present the voucher at this fundraiser (posted as a PDF in the media gallery of this article) and the Ninety Nine Restaurant will donate 15% of your guest check to the Stoughton High Senior Class.

Open House at the Stoughton YMCA

The Stoughton YMCA (445 Central St.) will be hosting an open house on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 21, 2013.

There are activities and classes scheduled throughout the day, including a Family Magic Show with Joe Howard at 11 a.m. Admission to the magic show is free if you bring an item to donate to the YMCA's food drive.

MBTA Schedule

The Subway, buses and trackless trolleys will operate on a Saturday schedule. The Commuter Rail, including the Providence/Stoughton line, will operate on a regular weekday schedule.
