Labor Day is held on the first Monday in September each year.

Unofficially the last day of summer, the holiday, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, "constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country."

  • Retail Stores
  • Supermarkets
  • Restaurants
  • Convenience stores
  • Bars/Taverns
  • Gyms/Health Clubs
  • Call ahead before heading to any of the above establishments to confirm they are open. Many retail stores or gyms/health clubs may be operating on a Sunday schedule or with limited hours.

Closed:

  • Banks 
  • No Mail Delivery - All U.S. post offices are closed
  • Stock Market
  • Federal Offices
  • State Offices
  • Town Hall and municipal offices ()
  • Schools (school for grades 1-12 starts this Wednesday in Stoughton)
  • Libraries ()

No Trash Pickup on Labor Day in Stoughton

On Monday, September 3, there will be in observance of Labor Day.

Trash collection for Labor Day will be scheduled for Tuesday, September 4, in addition to the regular Tuesday collection.  

This is standard procedure for any holiday. All rubbish and recyclables must be curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection day.
