Region Roundup: Fire Leaves 17 Homeless; Shooting Incident (And More…)

An early morning fire on May 1 at a multi-family home on Park Street in Stoughton displaced 17 people, including an infant, Stoughton Fire Chief Mark Dolloff said.

While five families were displaced, there were no reports of injuries to civilians or to the crews that responded, according to SFD Captain Doug Campbell.

Easton Police are investigating a shooting incident in Gaslight Village in Easton (off Foundry St. near Five Corners) Sunday night, April 29.

Easton Police Chief Allen Krajcik said witnesses at the scene saw a black male, dressed in a hooded sweatshirt and carrying a rifle, fire multiple shots directly at 12 Gaslight Village. There were no reports on injuries.

The bridge over Route 95 on Route 495 was dedicated to Massachusetts State Trooper Doug Weddleton on Tuesday at a ceremony in Foxboro.

More than 50 state troopers, along with family and friends, came to the ceremony to remember the trooper’s life and dedication.

Weddleton was killed in June of 2010. He had initially stopped a suspected drunk driver near a constriction zone on Route 95 in Mansfield when another drunk driver struck him.

Following on the heels of a successful Norton 300th Birthday Community Picnic
in 2011, Norton Parks and Recreation announces the 2012 Founders Day Annual Picnic slated for June 23, 2012 at Henri A. Yelle Elementary School.
