Region Roundup: DJ Henry, House Fire, Arrests and Conquering the Yellow Brick Road

A federal judge ruled on March 8 that police material from the night of—and investigation that followed—Easton native Danroy “DJ” Henry’s death in Thornwood, NY will be publicly released as the case’s federal investigation continues.

Henry, a 20-year-old Pace University student, was shot and killed by Pleasantville and Mount Pleasant, NY police in the early morning hours of Oct. 17, 2010 while in his car in front of Finnegan’s Bar in the Thornwood Shopping Center.

As Stoughton Police Chief Paul Shastany wraps up his 10 week elite FBI training at the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA he has accomplished yet another feat, his completion of “The Yellow Brick Road”.

The final test of the fitness challenge became known as the “Yellow Brick Road” when Marines used yellow bricks to mark the trail.  It is described by the FBI’s National Academy as a  “6.1-mile grueling run through a hilly, wooded trail built by the Marines.”

A Norton couple has been displaced due to a fire that broke out in a Crane Street garage on the night of March 6. No one was injured.

The Norton Fire Department determined that the fire started in the attached two-car garage via an electrical switch in the storage room above garage and attic. It didn’t take long for Norton Fire Department to put out the fire initially, but it sparked up again. Heavy rapid fire spread due to only partial ceiling into garage allowing spread into attic.

Sharon Police on Wednesday alleged that a Sharon resident is linked to jewelry stolen during two Sharon housebreaks over the past two weeks.

Police today arrested Christine Haidar, 36, at her residence, at 19 Gannett Terrace, on a warrant charging her with two counts of receiving stolen property, police said in a press release.

Police also arrested Haidar on a second, West Roxbury District Court warrant, for shoplifting.

According to WPRI, a Woonsocket couple were arrested by Rhode Island State Police for alleged home burglaries in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

The pair was captured in Providence after a tip was given to Mansfield Police.
