Region Roundup: Crescent Ridge Family Celebrating 80 Years; Assault and Battery (And More...)

The Parrish family will celebrate 80 years of owning the Crescent Ridge Dairy by giving kids a treat on cones.

Tuesday, July 10 is 80-cent kiddie cone day at the Bay Road landmark in Sharon, on the Stoughton line.

"It's a way for us to celebrate that with our customers by having an oldy-timey price, to sort of say 'Thank you' to everyone and to celebrate those 80 years," Mark Parrish said.

Stoughton Police arrested a Brockton man Monday after he assaulted people in Stoughton Center and threatened police officers, SPD Executive Officer Robert Devine said.

John Noonan, 47, of Brockton, was charged with two counts of assault and battery and disorderly conduct after several witnesses told police Noonan was punching people.

Scott Mitchell, 51, of Dighton was arrested for assault and battery on a police officer after he took off running when Easton police went to question him.

A caller reported a white male with salt and pepper hair, no shoes or shirt and ripped jean shorts walking up Depot Street from Turnpike Street in Easton at approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The caller said the party asked her to call his father because his car broke down. The father was not receptive, according to the caller. The caller also informed police that the party may be intoxicated.

The three Foxborough American Legion baseball players, from Mansfield, injured in the June 18th head-on crash at the intersection of Main and Pierce Streets on Route 140 in Foxborough are recovering and hope to return to action soon.

“I think best scenario is that everyone is doing good, which is good,” Foxborough head coach Bill Travers said.

Norton Youth Soccer celebrated its second state championship in six seasons with the Norton U15 girls' team earning a 1-0 victory against Framingham in the finals of the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions (MTOC), played in Lancaster from June 22-24.

Thousands participated in the Harvard-Pilgrim Finish at the 50 on July 3 in Foxborough, which featured a 5K and 10K race. 

The finish line for both the 5K and 10K was the 50-yard line at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots.

With both the 10K and 5K runners entering though the famous Patriots’ helmet as the team has done many times, the participants got to experience the thrill of running on to an NFL field with Patriots’ linebacker Jerod Mayo cheering at the finish line.

Nicholas Panagopoulos, the landlord at the closed Christina's on Route 1 in Foxborough, says the owners of the former restaurant and banquet facility owes him $550,000.

Christina's co-owner Marjorie Clapprood and her husdand, Chris Spinazzola denied the claim and say they are actually owed for money they put into the facility.

The restaurant and function facility closed June 30.
