Get Out: A Guide to Weekend Fun (March 25-27)

There are plenty of activities and entertainment options for the family in town and within driving distance this weekend.

It's almost Friday...time to start thinking about the weekend. Locally, there are plenty of options within driving distance for some weekend fun.

* BONUS: Annual Flavors of Neponset Valley Gala

Start the weekend a day early, Thursday night (5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.), March 24 at Christina's on Route 1 in Foxboro, for the 12th annual "Flavors of Neponset Valley Gala."

Come and enjoy great food from "60 of the area's finest restaurants, caterers, confectioners, vineyards, boutique brews, spirits,and other taste sensations." Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $55 per person or $425.00 for groups of 10.

* Gibbons School Spring Fair

Come join the on Saturday, March 26 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for their Spring Fair. The Fair is fun for the whole family...enjoy games, hair wrapping, face painting, kids' crafts, raffles and plenty of food.

There will be trucks and equipment to climb and the chance to win a 2010 Bruins jersey signed by the ENTIRE team, plus a Bruins puck and hat (chances to win the Bruins prize are $25 each and are limited).

Those attending are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Stoughton Food Pantries.

* "Whistle a Happy Tune" this weekend at the Paris Cabaret/Starline Dinner Theatre

The Paris Cabaret, home of on Monk Street in Stoughton (off Washington Street near the downtown) is continuing its month long presentation of . Five more shows are scheduled: March 26 and 27 and April 1, 2 and 3. Evening shows (March 26; April 1 and 2) begin at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees (March 27 and April 3) begin at 1 p.m. Enjoy dinner and a great performance!

* Save the State Theater Event

On Saturday, March 26 at 8:30 p.m., Whiplash (63 Wyman Street) is hosting a fundraising event for the campaign to "Save the State Theater" in downtown Stoughton (a.k.a. the Stoughton Cinema Pub).

The night of entertainment features Stoughton native Mike Viola (who provided vocals for the film "That Thing You Do!") as well as other local talents. There is a $5 cover charge, with all of the proceeds going towards saving the State Theater.

* Stoughton Lions Club presents 'Legends in Concert’

The Stoughton Lions Club is holding its spring concert, Saturday, March 26 at 7 p.m. at Stoughton High. The "Legends in Concert" will feature Tony Funches and Friends in a tribute to the legendary Platters music.

According to release about the event, "this year, among other activities, proceeds from the Legends Concert will help to purchase defibrillators for the Stoughton Police Dept., and to support college scholarships for local students.

"Depending on one’s age, attendees will be able to sing along with Legends Tribute performers in such Platters hits as ‘The Great Pretender,’ ‘My Prayer,’ ‘Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,’ ‘You’ll Never Know,’ and ‘I’m Sorry,’ to name a few."

* SHS Alumni Hockey game

The annual Stoughton High alumni hockey game is scheduled for this Saturday, March 26 at the Asiaf Arena in Brockton from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
