Get Out: A Guide to Weekend Fun (April 8-10)

There are plenty of activities and entertainment options for the family in town and within driving distance this weekend.

It's almost Friday...time to start thinking about the weekend. Locally, there are plenty of options within driving distance for some weekend fun.

1. Singers' Night at Stoughton High School

From the Stoughton Music Department website: This vocal concert will feature performances by the SHS Chorus, Chamber Choir, Jazz Choir, SHS Knightengales and individual students performances. The OMS 8th Grade Chorus will also perform and join the SHS Choruses in a Grand Finale.

Tickets are available at the door. Proceeds from this event will help support the 2011 SHS Musical Production, Cinderella.

Adults: $5; Students and Seniors $2, with a family maximum of $10

2. Opening Day Parade

Stoughton Youth Baseball kicks off its season with their annual opening day parade on Saturday, April 9.

The parade starts at 9 a.m. AA and the Major Leagues meet at Faxon Park at 8:30 a.m. T-Ball, Instructional and A meet at the Drake Ave. Field by 8:45 a.m. 5-year-old skills meet at the front gate to the ballpark at 9 a.m. Rain date is Sunday, April 10.

3. Live Music at the Last Shot

Deep Water Blues will be performing at the in Stoughton (Washington Street) Friday night. High Speed Jesus will be performing on Saturday night. Both performances start at 9 p.m.

4. Spring Wedding Expo in Foxborough

Planning a wedding in the near future? On Sunday, April 10, from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m., at Christina's in Foxborough (Route 1) come enjoy complimentary hors d'oeuvres and wine tastings, listen to great bands and DJs and see two fashion shows with bridal and tuxedo fashions (1 p.m. and 3 p.m.) by Safari Models with commentary by RI Fashion.

Admission is $6.

5. Holiday fun for the kids

* HEAR A KID-FRIENDLY PASSOVER STORY

Come to in Sharon at 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 10 for a kid-friendly interactive “telling” of the Passover story which will involve all the senses. Taste matzah, smell bitter herbs, sing-along with music and more.

Price: $10/family.

* ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT

For Stoughton residents only: Come to Cedar Hill Golf Course (Park Street) Saturday, April 9 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. for an . The event is free (children will be provided with a bag...don't bring your own basket).

Children will also be able to take a picture with the Easter Bunny.
