1. 3rd Annual Flick ‘N Float at the YMCA

Join the Stoughton YMCA this Friday, January 20 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. for the third annual “Flick ‘N Float.”

Float around in the indoor pool and enjoy a family friendly movie (How to Train Your Dragon) on a large inflatable movie screen. Movie starts at 6:15 p.m.

Space is limited due to pool capacity. Cost is $5 per person for members and $8 per person for non-members. Registration is required. Call 781-341-2016 for more information.

2. Sports on Tap

Friday night features the Stoughton High boys' and girls' basketball teams going up against Davenport Division rival Canton.

The boys' varsity team (8-1) travels to Canton to play the 6-3 Bulldogs in a battle of the first and second place teams in the division.

Meanwhile, the girls' varsity team (5-4) looks to keep its winning ways going against a 3-6 Canton squad.

  • 3:30 p.m. - boys' freshman basketball at Canton (Away)
  • 3:30 p.m. - girls' freshman basketball vs. Canton (Home)
  • 5 p.m. - boys' JV basketball at Canton (Away)
  • 5 p.m. - girls' JV basketball vs. Canton (Home)
  • 6:30 p.m. - boys' varsity basketball at Canton (Away)
  • 6:30 p.m. - girls' varsity basketball vs. Canton (Home)

3. Blood Drive on Friday at the Sinai

Join the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton for a Blood Drive on Friday January 20 from 11:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

The Blood Drive, sponsored by the American Red Cross, will be held in the Brenner Conference Room of the York St. Facility.

All presenting donors will receive a coupon for a pound of Dunkin' Donuts coffee in honor of National Volunteer Blood Donor Month.

4. Stoughton Business Collecting Food for Pantries

Drop off any canned goods or non-perishable items at (770 Washington St. in the downtown) and they will match it during the months of January and February.

It will go directly to the Stoughton food banks to help those in need.

5. Grand Opening of Kiddie Academy

Kiddie Academy (located at 1202 Washington St. in Stoughton) is holding a Winter Festival on Saturday, January 21 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Kiddie Academy of Stoughton is an early learning center for children 6 weeks of age to 12 years of age.

The Winter Festival will include food prepared by the Kiddie Academy chef; live music by Ben Rudnick and Friends; a performance by Big Joe the Storyteller; face painting and balloon animals; magic by David Hall; a Science show; and a special visit from Red Sox mascot Wally the Green Monster.
