Five Things You Need to Know Today: February 20 (Presidents' Day)

1. No Trash Pickup in Stoughton on Presidents' Day

There will be no curbside trash collection on Monday, February 20, 2012, in observance of Presidents’ Day.

Trash collection for 2/20 will be scheduled for Tuesday, February 21 in addition to the regular Tuesday collection. This is standard procedure for any holiday.  

All rubbish and recyclables must be curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection day. No barrel over 30-gallon size will be emptied. Large household appliances (metal items) must be called into the Public Works for appointment for pickup.

2. Masonic Blood Drive

There is an American Red Cross sponsored blood drive at the Stoughton Masonic Building (925 Pleasant St. in Stoughton - Route 139) on Presidents' Day, February 20, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

A free breakfast will be served (pancakes, sausage and juice).

3. Sports on Tap

  • The Stoughton High boys' varsity basketball team plays host Walpole at 6 p.m. at Walpole High in the consolation game of the Walpole Hoop Classic

4. February Vacation Clinic at Dirt Dawg Sports

Report for Spring Training just like the Major League Baseball players. Dirt Dawg Sports in Canton (owned by three Stoughton residents just over the town line on Industrial Drive) is having a three-day vacation "all purpose skills" clinic.

The clinic runs Monday-Wednesday, February 20-22, from 9 a.m. until noon.
