"Five Things you Need to Know This Weekend" is the weekend version of the Patch column "Five Things You Need to Know Today."  The weekend edition provides readers with essential information for both Saturday and Sunday.

1. Eat for Free at IKEA this Weekend

2. Veterans' Open House at the YMCA

Join the on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. for a free day of family fun!

November is military month, and The YMCA is focusing their efforts on helping active, reservist, and veteran members of our armed forces.

Come for Family Boot Camp, Information from your Local Veteran's agency, family activities, food, fun and more. Ask about the November promotions.

Ask how you can help support troops overseas with help from the Y. Also, ask about membership promotions, and give-a-ways for our current military members.

3. Stoughton Life Teen Craft Fair on Saturday

Stoughton Life Teen is having its annual at this Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

There will be lots of vendors and crafters, homemade lunches to purchase (including homemade meatball subs), cupcake decorating and face paint for the kids, raffles, hot drinks and more! You might even find some early Thanksgiving Christmas or Holiday gifts.

There are two other church fairs this weekend:

  • hosts a Holiday Fair on Saturday, November 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • will hold their Church Fair on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (FREE all day).

4. Dinner to Benefit Ryan Silva

From About Town: On Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Socidade Filarmonica Sao Joao, 845 Washington Street in Stoughton Center, a fundraising dinner will be held for , a Stoughton first grader who suffers from a disease called Eosinophilic Esophagitis.

This disease causes chronic chest and stomach pain, vomiting, gagging, poor growth and other symptoms for him.

The benefit will take place from 6 p.m. until midnight. Cost is $20 per adult or $12 per child and includes dinner, music, raffles, and fun for all.

5. Pop Warner Playoffs

The Stoughton Pop Warner take on Brockton this Sunday in a semifinal playoff game this Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

The game will be played in Wrentham (450 North St.). There’s a $5 entrance fee and there are no bleachers, so bring a chair if you plan to attend and support the Stoughton team.

The winner of the game advances to the Super Bowl.
