1. First Day of School for Teachers and Nurses

Teachers and nurses in the Stoughton Public Schools report for their first day of the 2012-2013 school year Tuesday, September 4.

The first day for students in grades 1-12 is Wednesday, September 5.

The first day for kindergarten stusents is Friday, September 7.

2. Labor Day Alters Trash Pickup Schedule in Stoughton

On Monday, September 3, there was in observance of Labor Day.

Instead, trash collection for Labor Day is scheduled for Tuesday, September 4, in addition to the regular Tuesday collection.  

This is standard procedure for any holiday. All rubbish and recyclables must be curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection day.

3. Bingo at the Senior Center

The  will hold its weekly game of BINGO at 12:45 p.m.

4. Reminder: Thursday is Food Pantry Day in Stoughton

Stoughton resident Peg Carbone continues her effort to curb hunger in Stoughton, personally picking up donations for the food pantries every Thursday.

Here's a note from Peg: "I pick up non perishable food and also household items every Thursday, anywhere in Stoughton and deliver them to the food pantry. Please tell your friends and neighbors. One item, one bag or several, and I will pick them up every Thursday."

5. Looking Ahead: STOYAC Basketball Signups

The STOYAC recreation basketball program will be holding its sign-ups in the on Wednesday, September 12 and Thursday, September 13 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This program is open to children from the second grade through high school. If you are interested in coaching please sign-up at the same time.
