1. Political Season Underway in Stoughton

With the Presidential Election season behind us, it's time to turn our attention to local politics.

The 2013 Town Meeting and Elections Calendar has been posted on the town website and can be found in the media gallery of this article.

As of Nov. 1, nomination papers to run for town-wide office or for Town Meeting representative have been available at the Town Clerk's Office on the first floor of the Town Hall.

Town-wide nomination papers need to be filed at the Town Clerk's office by no later than 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 2, 2013. The Town Meeting warrant for petitioned articles also closes on this day.

Nomination papers for Town Meeting candidates are due at the Town Clerk's office by no later than Feb. 19, 2013.

The annual town election will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2013, with a preliminary election (if needed) held Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013.

And, the annual Town Meeting begins Monday, May 6, 2013, with an Organizational Town Meeting taking place May 2, 2013.

2. Board of Selectmen Meeting

The Stoughton Board of Selectmen will meet Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall (third floor, Great Hall).

The meeting begins in executive session (closed to the public), before reconvening in open session.

In addition to the Selectmen, the Redevelopment Authority meets at 6 p.m. in the Fitzpatrick Room of the Town Hall (first floor) and the Board of Health meets in the Town Hall employee lounge in the basement at 6:30 p.m.

3. Powderpuff Football

Stoughton High travels to Canton High for this year's Powderpuff game. The football game played between senior girls from Stoughton and Canton takes place at Canton High Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. 

Come and support the SHS senior girls (and the senior boy cheerleaders) in this annual tuneup for the Thanksgiving Day football game between the two schools.

4. Bingo at the Senior Center

The Senior Center will hold its weekly game of BINGO at 12:45 p.m.

5. Follow Stoughton High football this Thanksgiving LIVE

The Stoughton High football team (9-1) hosts Canton (2-6) Thursday at 10 a.m. in the annual Thanksgiving Day football game between the two rivals.
