1. Board of Selectmen Meeting

The Stoughton Board of Selectmen will meet Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall (third floor, Great Hall).

Police Chief Paul Shastany is expected to discuss the brawl which broke out at a Baby Shower held late in the evening on Jan. 12 at Club Luis de Camoes on Porter St. in Stoughton, which led to the arrests of four from Brockton, including one juvenile.

2. Looking Ahead: Bullying Workshop

The following is from the Stoughton Special Education Parent Advisory Council:

The Stoughton Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SSEPAC) invites you to a Bullying Workshop Community Forum on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wales French Room in the Stoughton Public Library. 

Patty Snell and Judy Biagi from the Community Outreach Unit of the Norfolk County District Attorney's office will present an educational workshop about bullying issues.  All parents and other interested community members are welcome to attend.

The Norfolk D.A.’s Office presents workshops about bullying and cyber-bullying to communities to help students and families better understand the complexities of this serious issue.  

The presenters will address the nature of bullying behavior and the various motivations behind it, the role of the bystander, and the increasing use and potential misuse of personal technology.  

They will also discuss updates in Massachusetts law on this issue, how commonplace situations may have legal implications, and the potential consequences of certain types of conduct.  Finally, the presenters will discuss the importance of sound decision-making before, during and after a potential situation arises.

3. Stoughton High Sports on Tap

The Stoughton High boys' and girls' basketball teams are in action Tuesday evening, Jan. 29.

The boys' travel to Milford, while the girls' host Milford at the SHS gym. Both varsity games start at 6:30 p.m. JV games start at 5 p.m. and freshmen games start at 3:30 p.m.

4. Bingo at the Senior Center

The Senior Center will hold its weekly game of BINGO at 12:45 p.m.

5. Reminder: Thursday is Food Pantry Day in Stoughton

Stoughton resident Peg Carbone continues her effort to curb hunger in Stoughton, personally picking up donations for the food pantries every Thursday.

Here's a note from Peg: "I pick up non perishable food and also household items every Thursday, anywhere in Stoughton and deliver them to the food pantry. Please tell your friends and neighbors. One item, one bag or several, and I will pick them up every Thursday."
