Local BNI chapter welcomes new leaders

The South Shore Networkers chapter of Business Network International began its 2013-2014 term by welcoming a new leadership team. Stoughton’s Jason Ranallo, Attorney at Law, is vice president, and Scott Killgoar, V. P. and Branch Manager of Rockland Trust is the secretary and Treasurer.   Nancy Brennan of Risk Strategies Company is the new president.

The chapter is also celebrating its ninth anniversary. Since it began in 2006, the chapter tracks the dollars of business generated from their referrals. The South Shore Networkers chapter has generated millions of dollars in business for its members. In the 2011-2012 term, the total was over $1.1 million.

BNI, which has 150,000 members in 45 countries, was founded in 1985 by Dr. Ivan Misner for the purpose of helping businesses to build referral networks. Each chapter allows just one person per professional classification to avoid any competition, and members focus on giving referrals to other members.

In an interview, Dr. Misner said networking is more like farming than hunting: It’s about cultivating relationships with other business people. “It’s not what you know or who you know,” he said. “It’s how well you know them that really counts. Givers Gain is our Credo, he noted.”

The South Shore Networkers meet every Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at 400 Washington Street (suite 401) Braintree. Guests are welcome to the Breakfast meeting at no charge. “We invite people to visit to see if they think a membership is good for their business,” visitor host Jim Martin commented.
