Here comes Grumpy Gus again, but this "Best of" series is getting old. Why not go back to the old annual "Best of Stoughton" instead of taking headlines up every other day or is there really that little to write and talk about in town?

Hi DJ, I'm sorry you feel that way, because from what I understand this feature is here for the foreseeable future. That being said, from Monday April 16 - Sunday April 22, Stoughton Patch ran 41 stories, just 2 of which had to do with the Best Of series. From Monday April 9 - Sunday April 15 we ran 44 stories, and again just 2 had to do with the Best Of series. I expect the numbers to be similar this week. So, there is a lot to write about and talk about in town, and we do our best to cover those stories for the community.

DJ- It's unfortunate that you don't like them. It appears that they give great free publicity to local business. (I find it kind of exciting when they get competitive as well). But, with that said, you always have the choice not to read them and simply move on to an article of more interest to you:)

Hello Jeff and Christine and thank you both for your reply. To be honest, I'm not partial to the new format and so it often appears, to me anyway, that a "Best of" is taking top billing, leaving real news to dig for. On a good note, it is hopeful that some of these may raise awareness of local business. I for one was unaware of some of the sports stores discussed. Unfortunately I've also read a share of negative feedback that is not always constructive or helpful, but I understand your perspective if this is what the draw is.

I personally really like the Best Of series that has been appearing lately. I do however agree with DJ about the new format. I have found myself checking in less at Patch because of it. It is too "busy" and much harder to follow. Please bring back the old Patch.
