Stoughton’s Town Spa is First Stop for Army Major Returning from Iraq

The Stoughton restaurant provides a special backdrop for the Squizzero/Fisher family, with Melissa Squizzero reuniting with her family at Town Spa upon her return home for a 15-day R&R leave.

Every now and then Melissa Squizzero would savor a quick bite of her linguica pizza, ensuring she didn’t miss a moment of hugs and kisses from her daughter.

This wasn’t your typical visit to one of Stoughton’s favorite dining establishments.

After arriving at Boston’s Logan Airport at 2 p.m. July 13th, United States Army Major Melissa Squizzero chose Stoughton’s well-known Town Spa restaurant to reunite with her family members.

Squizzero, who is serving in Iraq, is on a 15-day R&R leave.

The Major arrived at the restaurant with her fiancé, Stoughton native, Bob Fisher. She was instantly surrounded and embraced by her (ecstatic) ten-year-old daughter, Brianna Rose, her mother, Betty (Mimmi) Squizzero of Raynham, and her sister, Suzanne, of Needham, and her children, Sam and Jacquline.

When asked why she chose Town Spa as her first stop, Squizzero said, “Where else can you get this kind of pizza?”  Since her fiancé, Fisher, is a former employee at the Spa (back in 1986), she should know.

Squizzero and her family intend on spending her 15 days of R&R leave to do just that, rest and relax with each other down on the Cape.

However, the Major was quick to share her “bucket list” of food that she must enjoy over the next two weeks. With the top priority—linguica pizza—now off the list, the remaining items are Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee, calzones, marinated steak on the grill and buttered corn on the cob.

Before packing into the minivan for the drive to the Cape, the family thanked Town Spa owner Dick Phillips for all he had done for them during their visit.  Phillips was empathetic to Betty Squizzero as a military parent as his son has also served.

Squizzero’s current tour of duty is scheduled to be complete in January with another R&R break in the fall (the tentative timeframe for her highly anticipated wedding day).

She has been serving this country since 1992 and will therefore be eligible for retirement when she reaches the twenty-year threshold in 2013.
