Stoughton Selectmen Give Dunkin Donuts 24-Hour Window

Dunkin' Donuts at 438 Washington St.,  is going to have a 24-hour drive-through window once their application is fully completed.

McDonald's next door is open 24 hours, and Beantown Diner was given the option of later hours.

"It's consistent with the area," said selectmen chairman John Anzivino. "I don't see this as a big issue."

Selectman Cynthia Walsh said that being open 24 hours a day was part of a change in society.

"It's a whole new world," she said, pointing out that only one-third of people are working 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. "Many people are going to be grateful that you are going to be open 24 hours."

The change is dependent upon a grease-trap report to the Stoughton Public Works Department, and getting managers' signatures on the application.

Both the fire and police departments said they didn't have any problem with the increase in hours. Police did ask that Dunkin' Donuts follows the procedure that McDonald's follows, making phone calls to alert them of any late-night problems with customers..
