Stoughton Selectmen Approve New Pizza Restaurant and Gas Station

The Stoughton Board of Selectmen gave its approval for a new pizza restaurant and new gas station in Stoughton, both located on Washington St./Route 138.

Two vacancies along Washington St./Route 138 in Stoughton could soon be filled, giving residents another place to grab a slice of pizza or fill up their car.

At its Tuesday meeting, the Stoughton Board of Selectmen gave its approval for a new pizza restaurant and new gas station in town.

Selectmen approved the Common Victualler License for M and G Pizza, which will be located in the spot formerly occupied by Main Street Pizza at 713 Washington St.

The restaurant, named for owner Eric Palmer's children, Michael and Gwen, will serve thin crust pizza and subs.

A Stoughton resident, Palmer has been in the restaurant industry for most of his life, but this will be the first restaurant he owns, he said.

Palmer said he is not planning any major interior renovations. He said he will feature weekly specials on Facebook and will let customers decide which specials should have a permanent place on the menu.

Palmer is looking to open at the beginning of March.

Selectmen also approved the license to amend the storage tank for a new gas station located at 825 Washington St. This is the former spot of the Getty station next to the VFW Hall just outside of the downtown.

Owner Jack Mikhael said it will be an independently owned Shell Station and he plans to open within the next month or month and a half.

Mikhael said the station will offer regular, plus, super, diesel and E85, a gasoline-ethanol blend. This will be one of the only stations in the area offering this alternative fuel (the other being a Gulf Station in Canton on Route 138), Mikhael said.

In addition to gasoline, Mikhael said there will be an auto repair shop and small snack shop at the station.

There are currently two other Shell stations in Stoughton, yet neither is pumping gas at the moment as there is a dispute between the company and the owner of those stations. This issue will not impact Mikhael's business, he said.

Will the Shell participate in the Stop & Shop gas points reward program? I hope so. Right now, because of the two other Shells being closed down, we have to go over to the Shell in Randolph in order to take advantage of our points before they expire.

I wish Mr. Palmer luck and hope he succeeds. Stoughton already has so many pizza/sub places.

I wish Mr. Palmer all the luck. I have lived across the street from that location for 9 yrs and there have been 5 different pizza places there. Im not sure if its the location or something about that building. But good luck and I will make sure I try it out.
