Stoughton Farmers' Market: O'Brien's a Baking Tradition

If you have been to the Stoughton Farmers' Market, you've probably seen him behind a table full of fresh baked goods.
He's a friendly guy who likes to visit with the market-goers, explaining how he makes his bread, rolls, cakes and other assorted goodies.
O'Brien's Bakery of Quincy says the sign behind him, so he must be Mr. O'Brien? Well, no, his name is Brian Jackle, and he's the owner.
"It was named O'Brien's and had been around for years," Jackle said. "A mistake people make when they buy a place is that they change the name of the company. That's what people know it as."
Jackle's brother Scott bought the business from the O'Brien family,  who had built a solid reputation in the area, being in Wollaston for 60 years. When his brother died in 2005, Brian took over the business, and he is a third- generation baker.
All summer long, he's been a regular at Stoughton Farmers' Market, and he will be there today.
He also has a store at 11 Vernon St., Quincy, which is open Tuesday through Fridays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are closed on Fridays.
At his store, he serves breakfast and lunch items in addition to his baked goods. Both his Boston cream pie and Irish soda bread were voted Best in Boston.
"We make everything fresh," said Jackle, ranging from wedding cakes to gourmet dog biscuits. He also offers gluten-free and sugar-free baked goods.
If you want to find O'Brien's Bakery at the market, look for the leprechaun.
"A lot of Irish places use shamrocks, but I like the leprechaun better," Jackle said.
