Small Business Saturday, conceived by American Express to help spotlight the efforts of local small businesses, comes at the beginning of the big holiday shopping sprint—this Saturday (Nov. 26)—and encourages shoppers not to bypass “Main Street.”

Uncle Milty's Stoughton Army Navy Store Entrenched In The Center Of Town

Long before the "big-box" retail corporate giants dominated the consumer market, there were traditional "brick-and-mortar" destination shops like in Stoughton center.

Open since 1977, the store may be best known for its mascot—a wooden cigar-store Indian known as “The Chief,” placed on the sidewalk near the front door.

Staple products include tailor-made clothes for the working man and women - jeans, coveralls, thermal underwear, socks, boots, leather belts, work gloves.

Discover Treasures at Floral Fantasy

Stoughton’s is known for its friendly, personalized and professional customer service, and for its selection of bright, bold and beautiful flowers, but the Central Street flower shop also has an extensive collection of unique gifts—for any occasion and for any budget.

Gifts of all shapes and sizes—small statues, figurines, snow globes, decorative salt and pepper shakers, mugs, magnets, tea pots, serving platters, stuffed animals, vases, and greeting cards—line the side walls of her store.

And, of course, there are flowers and plants (and balloons) in the store. Floral Fantasy also designs and supplies floral arrangements for weddings and all sorts of other special occasions.

Extreme Value Furniture Opens

Extreme Value has a wide selection of brand-name living room, dining room and bedroom furniture, as well as recliners, mattresses, entertainment stands and area rugs. 

Owner Larry Noller said Extreme Value will offer higher-end merchandise for the “price conscious customer.” He prides himself in carrying “similar merchandise to competitors at 30 to 40 percent less.”

The furniture store, which opened on Oct. 7 is located at 1202 Washington St. in Stoughton, at the newly renovated Ashmont building.

Store it Local

After making all of your purchases at local businesses, here is a local place where you can store them.

Located at the newly renovated Ashmont building on Washington St., Ashmont Self Storage has 148 units, is state-of-the-art and is safe and secure, owner David Rudnick said.

Ashmont Self Storage offers climate controlled units and 24-hour video surveillance. The building is also equipped with an alarm and sprinkler system. Discounted rates are available for seniors, active military personnel and students.
