Some great dining deals, shopping deals and post-Valentine's Day sales

We're all watching our family budgets these days. Whether shopping with coupons or looking for two-for-one deals, we're taking advantage of all sorts of offers and savings that help us stretch our dollars.

This column will be dedicated to giving you five great local deals each week that will help your family’s bottom line, and since we do the scouting for you, you can save time as well as money.

Deals for Post Valentine’s Day Bargains:

    • Candy 30-50% off-I got Dove chocolate hearts that are pink and gold.  The gold is for St. Patrick’s Day gifts and the pink is for Easter baskets (really what’s the difference?)
    • Quaker Granola Bars-$1.99 for 28 mini chocolate chip bars, simply because they have hearts on them (don’t we love our kids all year round?)
    • Packaged lip-glosses, sports erasers, etc.-great party favors for any birthdays coming up.
    • Paper goods 50%-many are neutral designs (and you are just going to throw it away anyway.)
  • Christmas Tree Shop…
    • Solid colored place mats-75% off (think ahead, orange for Halloween or mix with green for St. Patty’s, pastels for Spring & Easter)
    • All other Valentine merchandise 50% off- if you have the storage, now is the time to stock up (look for things that are solid colors or neutral designs, especially wrapping paper and gift bags. Other things are easily repackaged and make great hostess and teacher gifts)
