Daddy's Dairy to Open Third Location

Daddy's Dairy, which has locations in Stoughton and Randolph, is coming soon to the Easton-Brockton town line.

, which has locations in  and Randolph, is expanding once again.

Daddy's third location will be on the Easton-Brockton town line in the Owen O'Leary's Plaza on Belmont Street in Brockton.

Owners Traci Segal and John Minihan are aiming to open there at the end of July or early August.

"We have a lot of Easton customers in Stoughton alone," Segal said. "It’s a good location, so we’re excited. We usually go to Back Bay Bagel over there and we saw a couple of spots open. It’s pretty late in the season for us to get open. We’re usually open by March. But, because of the timing of the space, with Stonehill kids going back to school we figured it would be OK."

Segal and Minihan's celebrated its second anniversary in March of this year. The original Daddy's Dairy is in Randolph.

The Randolph spot, formerly a convenince store called Minihan Handy Store, has been in Minihan's family for over 50 years. Eight years ago, he and Segal made the transition to an ice cream shop and changed the name to Daddy's Dairy.

"It was really tough for John to change the business that his family established for 50 years, so we slowly changed it over and it was a hit," Segal said.

It was so much of a hit that Daddy's Dairy decided to expand to surrounding towns.

Segal said the shop is special because of the many different flavors and types of ice cream.

"We have so many different things," she said. "We do the soft serve. We do the hard ice cream. We do the frozen yogurt. We have lactose free soft serve. So, if someone has lactose issues they can get lactose free soft serve."

The setup on the Brockton-Easton line will be similar to the setup in Stoughton. Tables will be located inside and the menu will be similar.

After all, why change something that has worked so well?

"We’re going to do the same thing," Segal said. "It will be 200 plus flavors of soft serve. 80 flavors of hard ice cream, ice cream cakes, and then we have all kinds of specialties, homemade cookies and chocolate chip bananas."
