Bites Nearby: Mai Place

Enjoy great food at reasonable prices at this Asian restaurant located in Canton.

In this column, Stoughton Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. This week's choice is , located at 323 Turnpike Street, Canton  MA.

From downtown Stoughton it's about 3.5 miles away and less than a 10 minute drive, just a straight shot down Route 138.

Mai Place offers fine Chinese and Japanese cuisine at reasonable prices. Well-known for its reputation as a fresh sushi place, the Canton restaurant has options like Philidelphia Maki and Crispy Tuna rolls.

Other options include tasty appetizers like their spicy "Mai Buffalo Wings" or lettuce cups, or entrees which include a number of beef, chicken, noodle or rice dishes mixed with vegetables and complemented by sweet, tangy or spicy sauces.

There is something romantic about this Asian restaurant. Dimly lit, with perfectly arranged tables, there is enough privacy at each table to have an intimate conversation. The waitstaff  is friendly and always available should you need them. Mai Place in Canton offers enough mainstream variety that you will not have trouble picking out something you will enjoy. Another plus, this establishment makes fabulous mixed drinks.

Their lunchtime menu includes many great values, called "bento boxes," which include a choice of a meat dish, soup, salad, Califormia sushi roll and rice.  That’s a great deal at only $9.50.
