STOUGHTON PATCH STORM CENTER: Library Opened Wednesday

There will be no trash pick-up Wednesday.

The Stoughton Library is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22.

There is no school Wednesday, Jan. 22, in Stoughton.

Stoughton Parking Ban

Stoughton's parking ban is effective until April 1 between the hours of 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. Residents are also remained the town is not liable for any damage done to mailboxes, shrubs, lawns, fences, steps, sprinkler heads or trees which are within the street layout due to snow removal activities. The fine for violation of these parking regulations is $15 for each offense and/or towing of vehicle at owner’s expense.

More School Closings

Southeastern Regional, Cardinal Spellman and Norfolk Aggie are going to be closed Wednesday.

Traffic Update:

The MBTA reported the 7:42 a.m. Providence/Stoughton train was delayed 10 to 15 minutes.

On their Twitter page Wednesday morning, the Stoughton Police reported that driving was still a challenge.

House of Brews announced they would be closed Wednesday morning because of the weather, but will be re-opening at 5 p.m. and will be having jazz at night.

Weather Update

The National Weather Services reported to 10-14 inches for Norfolk County expected when the snow ends Wednesday.

Winter Storm Watch

A winter storm warning has been issued in the Stoughton area by the National Weather Service. The Service issued a winter storm warning Monday afternoon for a 24-hour period from 1 p.m. Tuesday through 1 p.m. on Wednesday. The warning was issued at 3:58 p.m. on Monday.

Stoughton Afterschool Activities Cancelled Tuesday
All afternoon and evening school events have been canceled for Tuesday, Jan. 21, including the basketball games against North Attleboro.

Tuesday Night Cancellations

Southeastern Regional, Curry College and Northeastern University have cancellation evening activities for Tuesday, Jan. 21.

News From Governor Patrick

Governor Deval Patrick has sent state workers home and asked private employers to do the same. The Tuesday afternoon announcement came ahead of a quick-hitting storm steaming into New England Tuesday afternoon.

The system is expected to dump 8-10 inches of snow in the Boston area, with lighter totals expected north and west of the city. Cape Cod and southeast coastal Massachusetts can expect higher snowfall totals and blizzard conditions. 

By 3 p.m. Tuesday, snow had already started to fall on the Cape, prompting the governor to warn about a tough Tuesday night commute.

"If you're driving, be careful," said Patrick.

The storm has also forced the governor to postpone tonight's State of the Commonwealth address. The annual address will be rescheduled at a later date.

Flights Cancelled at Logan Airport

Nearly 200 flights that were scheduled to arrive or depart from Logan Airport on Tuesday have already been cancelled as of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday as the airlines deal with another major snowstorm.

Seventy-nine departing flights from Logan have already been cancelled, including half of the flights scheduled between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to FlightStats.
