Stoughton High Football Team to Open Up Season Today

It will be a big day for the Stoughton athletic teams as the varsity football team will be starting its season with a 4 p.m. game at Pembroke. In the past two years, the Titans have lost to Hockomock League teams in the playoffs, losing to Oliver Ames in 2011 and Sharon in 2012. The girls' soccer team will be hosting Randolph in a nonleague game at 3:30 p.m., while the boys' soccer team will be traveling to Randolph at the same time. The girls' field hockey team is going to be at Franklin, while the volleyball team will be hosting the Panthers in a 4:45 p.m. match. The Black Knight golf team is scheduled to going against Canton at Blue Hills in a 3:30 p.m. match.

Fellow Comedians to Honor the Late Bob Lazarus

Jimmy Tingle and Ahavath Torah Congregation will present "The Bob Lazarus Memorial All Star Comedy Benefit," Sunday, Sept. 22, at .Ahavath Torah in Stoughton. Comedians Steven Wright, Lenny Clarke, Mike Donovan, Tom Gilmore, Jonathan Katz, Mike McDonald, Frank Santorelli, Emily Singer, Tony V,.Jimmy Tingle, Mike Bent, Patty Ross, Chance Langton, Steve Calechman and more will perform starting at 5 p.m. Ticket prices are as follows:  General admission - $40, $50, $60 and includes all ticket fees. Special Meet/Greet post-show reception: Includes choice seating, after show reception with the comedians and family and friends of Bob Lazarus, food & beverages included at $118 per ticket.  There will be a $5 surcharge for all tickets purchased at the door the day of the benefit show. Full-time Pumping Station Operator Positions Open

The town of Stoughton has two full-time pumping station operator positions available. The duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: inspection, operation, servicing, and maintenance of diesel and gas driven engines, electrically driven pumps, and auxiliary machinery and equipment in Municipal Water/Wastewater treatment plants or stations; adjusts/ calibrates equipment to achieve safe water treatment; records/maintains readings and operational logs. Daily schedule is rotational including weekends and holidays. Employees are subject to working during declared emergency conditions, such as, but not limited to snow emergencies. The qualifications are: MA Drinking Water Treatment Grade I license and any other types/grades of certification/licenses required by the MA DEP; and a High School Diploma. Applicants must be able to acquire a MA Drinking Water Treatment Grade II license within 12 months of hire and MA Class B (CDL) Drivers License within 18 months of hire. All applicants must be able to pass a criminal background/CORI check and a pre-employment physical including drug testing. Salary range: $19.47 - $24.11 per hour. The Stoughton Farmers' Market will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Trackside Plaza. There will be music geared to children this week.
