Mosquito Treatment to be Applied by Helicopter in Stoughton, Norfolk County

The Norfolk County Mosquito Control District will be conducting aerial aerial larval applications via helicopter for two to three days until the end of the month. 

The applications began on Monday, April 14 and will continue in Norfolk County through April 30, according to a recent announcement by Denise Lochiatto, Administrative Secretary with the Stoughton Board of Health. 

"The applications are not 'sprays' but instead are granular applications of a biological larvicide applied to wetlands only," Lochiatto wrote in the announcement. "As always, the weather in the spring is unpredictable, and for this reason the District cannot pin down these dates with any more accuracy at this time. As the time approaches, the District will narrow down application dates and will notify you via email, fax or phone."

While officials have not announced a specific date for when the applications will be deployed, Stoughton Police said that they would take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at some point between now and April 30, and residents should not be alarmed if they see a helicopter over the area.
