December to Remember in Stoughton

The following are important dates to remember for December in Stoughton.

Remember the Stoughton Police Department is collecting new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots. They can be dropped off at the police station.

The winter parking ban is in effect. No vehicles are allowed to be parked on the roads from midnight to 5 a.m.

Saturday, Dec. 7: The Christmas Parade of Lights will be held Dec. 7 at 4:30 p.m. under the lights. The parade will start at Stoughton High and go to through Stoughton Center before ending at Halloran Park.

The Stoughton Historical Society will be open from 3-6 p.m. for their open house. They will be selling their publications, map and t-shirts.

The Old Stoughton Musical Society Christmas Concert will be at the Historical Society at 8 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 8: Santa's Workshop at Old Colony YMCA in Stoughton from 2-5 p.m. There will be photos with Santa, crafts, treats and music. The cost is $5 for members and $8 for non-members. Preregistration is required at the YMCA Welcome Center.

Monday, Dec. 9: The Stoughton Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual holiday parade at the Portuguese National Club from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Mark Snyder will be the master of ceremonies, while the music will be provided by Chris Zenko of The Music Machine will be providing the entertainment. There will also be raffles.

Wednesday, Dec. 11: Tis the Holidays at the Stoughton Public Library, from 3 to 5 p.m. for ages 11-18, limited to 12. You will learn to design a jewelry box and learn to make a pair of angel earnings for a special someone. Call 781-344-2711.

Thursday, Dec. 12: Early school release day.

Friday, Dec. 13: Stoughton High Winter Concert at 7:30 p.m., featuring Concert Choir, Concert Band, Jazz Choir and Tuesday Jazz Band. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and students. There is a minimum of $10 per family.

Saturday, Dec. 14: Randolph Savings Bank collecting toys for Toys for Tots, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can also have your picture taken with the Grinchi.

There will be Polar Express PJ Party at the Stoughton YMCA for ages 4-8 from 1 to 4 p.m. Members are $5 and non-members are $8. Preregistration is required and space is limited.

Wednesday, Dec. 18: Winter Concert, South Elementary School, grades 4-5 at 9 a.m.

Holiday Necklace Craft with Sheralee from 3 to 5 p.m. at Stoughton Public Library. Learn to make a season's greeting card and learn how to make holiday neckless for a loved one or yourself. The age limit is 11-18 and there is a limit of 12. Call 781-344-2711 to sign up.

Monday, Dec. 23: First day of winter break. School will start up against Thursday, Jan. 2.
