Bob's Famous Foodmart Gearing Up for Annual Kid's Day, 5K Run

Bob’s Famous Foomart will be hosting its 9th Annual Kid’s Day and 4th Annual Bob DiMatteo Memorial 5K Run (and 5K Walk) Sunday, September 8 at Bob’s (289 Park St. in Stoughton).

It’s two events in one. All the fun takes place, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on September 8. DJ David Jordan will provide the music.

At 9 a.m. there will be a free 1-mile fun run for kids and at 10 a.m. there will be a 5K run and a 5K walk.

There is a 200 runner limit. Entry fee will be $25 for runners, $20 for walkers and $25 for walking families. On the day of the event 5K runners will receive a free dry-fit t-shirt (if pre-registered).

The 5K course covers Birch Street, Park Street, Ash Street, Cedar Street, and Sumner Street, beginning and ending at Bob’s. Runners and walkers (of drinking age) will get one free drink ticket.

The Kid’s Day follows, which includes food, refreshments, prizes, and free giveways. There will be a dunk tank, child quest ID’s and fingerprinting, a fire engine, face painting, and a teddy bear clinic. Stoughton Media Access (SMAC) will be there filming kids in front of a green screen. 

There will also be a raffle (held at 1 p.m.). Raffle tickets are $1. Some of the prizes this year include a golf outing, sports tickets, gift certificates for local restaurants & much more. The grand prize this year will a $500 gift certificate to Bob’s Famous Foodmart.

Proceeds from the Kids Day and 5K Run will go towards funding two Stoughton High scholarships; helping a local family affected by cancer (including Jenn Lane Dignan, a Stoughton mom and teacher battling a brain tumor); and benefiting Stoughton Fire Safety, Stoughton Police Explorers, Blue Dog Shelter and the Stoughton Youth Commission.

The Prone Family Foundation will be matching the funds raised during the race.

Parking for the event will be provided by Farley Funeral Home across the street (358 Park St.)
