AROUND TOWN WITH MARK SNYDER:Stop the South Coast Rail Deadline

If you are opposed to the South Coast Rail, which will be wasting two BILLION dollars in taxpayer funds to build a "commuter" train to Fall River and New Bedford (and eventually will be all freight, since very few riders will use it), then beware of this:
The comment period for the Final Environmental Impact Statement/Report (FEIS/FEIR) on the South Coast Rail closes this FridayOct. 25.
For a chapter-by-chapter overview of what you can find in the document, view the Reader's Guide. Visit www.mass.gov/southcoastrail for additional materials, including a fact sheet and a link to download the report.
The people of Stoughton, and our leaders, have until TOMORROW to say their piece in opposition to this monstrosity that will split our town physically, and cause safety and environmental hazards for our residents!
Send comment by Oct. 25 to: Secretary Rick Sullivan, EOEEA, Attn: MEPA Office (Purvi Patel), 100 Cambridge Street, Suite 900, Boston, MA 02114, or email purvi.patel@state.ma.us or fax 617-626-1181. Send copies of your communication to Jean Fox, South Coast Rail Project Manager via Jean.Fox@state.ma.us.  Feel free to also include me in your emails (pmpco@aol.com).
Perhaps we will share some of the resident's sentiments in a future About Town!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
TODAY to Frank T. Walsh, host of a couple of TV shows (sports and music) on SMAC.
