ABOUT TOWN WITH MARK SNYDER:Stoughton Teen Raises Funds to Fight Childhood Cancer

“Your child has cancer.”
These are the words that 46 families will hear today. Tragically, cancer remains the No. 1 disease killer of America’s children – more than Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Asthma, and AIDS combined.
At the University of Delaware, Stoughton High grad Leesa Snyder, 19, is involved in making a difference for these kids. She is participating in UDance – the largest student-run philanthropy at the University of Delaware.
On March 23, 2014, they will be “dancing today to give the kids a tomorrow.”   Last year, they raised $551,051.61! With your help, they could exceed last year’s number!
The money that they raise will benefit The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation ( www.BePositive.org ), a national non-profit organization that is based in Delaware. The B+ Foundation funds childhood cancer research and helps families of children with cancer. The B+ Foundation has introduced 29 very brave “B+ Heroes” to the University of Delaware campus. Sadly, three of those children have gone to Heaven in the past few years.
As we count our blessings this Thanksgiving season, please help Leesa and the B+ Organization reach their goal to make a difference in the lives of these children. Leesa plans on working with disadvantaged children
Please visit the secure website to make an online donation. Search for Leesa’s name (Leesa Snyder) or her sorority team’s name, Alpha Xi Delta, to support her team’s goal.
The teenager is a 19-year-old Dean's List student at the school, and plans on working to assist disadvantaged children and their families, through a law career. Leesa says, “On behalf of all the brave children fighting cancer and their families, thank you for your support.”
(And, yes, Leesa is my daughter. Didn't you notice the resemblance?)
