NORWOOD, MASS. (Issued December 3, 2013)  -- That’s not a typo in the headline. There really is an exclamation point in the middle of the word ‘Th!nk’ – in the hope of  calling attention to an innovative campaign designed to attract  young Jewish parents who may wish to consider a day school education for their children.

In an effort to make this education more affordable for young families, Kehillah Schechter Academy (KSA) in Norwood, Mass., (www.ksa-ne.org) has announced its ‘Th!nk Boldly About Day School’ Campaign through which eligible families could receive up to $12,000 per year in tuition subsidies during each of their child’s first three years at the school – for a total of $36,000.

Announcement of the ‘Th!nk Boldly’ Campaign was made by Rabbi David Paskin, KSA Co-Head, who said the funding is being made possible thanks to a partnership with Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP), Boston’s Jewish federation, through its Discover Day School program. Details at ksa-ne.org/affordability.

“Our goal is to make our unique brand of high quality Jewish and secular education significantly more accessible,” said Paskin. “If your child is the first to attend a Jewish day school in your family and you meet certain income requirements, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. Every child deserves a KSA education.”

Highlights of the program include:

  1. CJP’s Discover Day School program will provide three Discover Day School Checks, each covering 25% (up to $6,000) toward tuition for the 2014-15 school year and subsequent two grades.  These checks are available to eligible K-8th grade students entering day school for the first time in Fall 2014.

  2. For families eligible for the Discover Day School program, KSA will match CJP’s award 100% and will award it in one of two ways:

    1. Up to $6,000 per year in additional monies for the same three years that CJP funds, or

    2. Up to $6,000 per year for years 4, 5, and 6 following CJP’s 3-year funding.

  • While CJP limits its award to one child per family, KSA will provide up to $6,000 per year for each additional child for three years based on eligibility requirements.

  • KSA was recently featured in a number of media outlets including a PBS special for national broadcast. An illustration of KSA’s innovative approach: A ‘Thanksgivukkah Ballad,’ written by Rabbi Paskin was performed by KSA students at historic Plimoth Plantation and at the Massachusetts State House.

Accredited by the Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE), KSA has earned a national reputation for excellence in Judaic and General Studies, including a strong science and math program. Now in its 26th year, KSA attracts boys and girls in grades pre-K- 8 from 20 communities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.  Graduates thrive at many of the region’s leading public and independent schools.
