Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Volunteers Help the Old Colony YMCA-Stoughton Expand Camp Resources During Third Annual Service Day.
The Old Colony YMCA-Stoughton welcomed dozens of volunteers from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts on September 18 for Blue Cross’ third annual Service Day. One Community. One Blue. More than 3,000 associates, known as BlueCrew, spread out across the state at 39 different community sites on the same day to beautify recreational areas, prepare meals, assemble food and clothes items, and enhance educational and camp facilities, among many other activities.
This was Blue Cross’ third year spending Service Day with the Old Colony YMCA-Stoughton helping them expand their camp capabilities and space – which is now equipped to accommodate nearly 400 kids. In year one, Blue Cross volunteers helped the Y build an outdoor amphitheater; year two BlueCrew volunteers created a games area, and this year they helped clear the woods to create a Story Book trail and outdoor yurt library in the woods to encourage kids to embrace a love of literacy.
