Stoughton Trash Day's Thursday This Week

There will be no curbside trash collection Wednesday, Jan. 1, according to the Stoughton Department of Public Works. Trash collection will be Thursday, Jan. 2.  Christmas trees, with bags and stands removed, may be left at curbside on your regular recycling collection day. They will be picked up by a separate truck during January only. This will be the only method of disposal. Christmas trees won't be accepted at the recycling center.  The transfer station is open every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All rubbish and recyclables must be curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection day. No barrel more than 30 gallon size will be emptied. Plastic containers, bags or boxes broken or damaged because of cold weather conditions or animals will be the responsibility of homeowners. Large household appliances (metal items) must be called into the public works for appointment for pickup.


Celebrate New Year's Eve at Noon at YMCA
The Stoughton YMCA is holding a "Midnight" Noon New Year's Eve Celebration, Tuesday, Dec. 31, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is for kids and families of all ages. There will be a very special countdown, a free raffle and other activities.

Trivia Fun-Raiser Night at Ahavath Torah
There will be a Trivia Fun-Raiser Night at Ahavath Torah Congregation on Saturday, Jan. 11. A professional trivia master will be serving as host of this event. There will be a pasta dinner and trivia competition, starting at 6:30 p.m. for $20 per person. There will be prizes and raffles. The trivia contest starts at 7:45 p.m.. The cost for the trivia contest only is $10 per person paid in advance, or $12 at the door. Beer and wine will be available, and desserts will be served to all. Teams of up to eight and individuals are all welcome to this event. Ahavath Torah Congregation is located at 1179 Central St. in Stoughton,. Reservations may be made by calling Ahavath Torah Congregation's main office at 781-344-8733 or via email at office@atorah.org. Dinner reservations are required no later than Jan. 8. This event is likely to fill up quickly, so reservations are strongly suggested. Doors open for trivia contest at 7:30 p.m.

Stoughton High Girls' Basketball at Home Friday
The Stoughton High girls' basketball team will be back in action Friday, Jan. 3, hosting the Franklin Panthers at 6 :30 p.m., while the boys will be traveling to Franklin.

What to Wear Today
Dress warm for New Year's Eve, according to WHDH. It will be in the 20s during the entire day with scattered flurries.
