Stoughton Schools to Induct Hall of Farmers

The Stoughton Public Schools and the Stoughton Historical Society will be inducting Robert F. Rivers, class of 1982 and Priscilla E. Geigis of the Class of 1983, Friday, Oct. 4, at 9:15 a.m. at the high school auditorium. The public is welcomed to attend. 

Saturday's Stoughton Farmers' Market will have a holiday theme this Saturday with holiday songs and gifts available to be purchased. The market is at the Trackside Plaza and is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Today is the second annual National Manufacturing Day, which gives manufacturers across the country the opportunity to open up their doors to give visitors a first-hand look at today’s high-tech and growing manufacturing sector. F.H. Peterson Machine, 143 South St., in Stoughton will be giving tours from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Bradley M. Lessa Memorial Park 1.8 mile walk fundraiser will take place Monday, Oct. 14, at Gibbons School, at 10 a.m. The cost is $15 per person, including BBQ and contributions. It will start at the Gibbons School and finish at the Bradley Lessa Playground. You can send you family name, email, number of people participating to Walk for the Bradley Lessa Playground, c/o The Lessa Family, 984 West St., Stoughton, 02072. A 100-percent of the proceeds go to purchase of new equipment.

Quincy Community Action Programs, Inc. (QCAP) invites guests to cook up some fun at its Second Annual Best Chef fundraising event at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10 at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy. The event, hosted by Jenny Johnson, co-host of NECN’s TV Diner, features the talents of Chef Robert Caparella of La Scala Restaurant in Randolph; Chef Joel Hathaway of the Neighborhood Club of Quincy; Chef David Todisco of the Tavern at Quarry Hills/Granite Links; Chef Paul Wahlberg, the defending champion of Alma Nove and Wahlburgers in Hingham; and Quincy School Committee member Barbara Isola, host of QATV’s "Into the Frying Pan." They will have a basket with a secret ingredients and then 45 minutes to create the dish. The chefs will be assisted by a sous chef and one of the participating celebrity chefs: Paul F. Connors, Jr., member of the Norfolk County Retirement Board and former selectman and retired town administrator from the town of Randolph; Emily Lebo, Quincy School Committee; Patrick McDermott, Register of Probate/Clerk Magistrate at Norfolk County Probate & Family Court; Quincy City Council President Michael E.
