Stoughton Home to Some of Most Dangerous Intersections in Area

The two car crash Thursday morning at the intersection of Canton Street and School Street in Stoughton, which sent three to the hospital with minor injuries, occurred at one of the most dangerous intersections in the state.

The Canton Street and School Street intersection is ranked 156th on the "2008-2010 Statewide Top 200 Intersection Crash List." The Washington St. and Central St. intersection is tied for 59th on this list.

There are plenty of other intersections that residents would also consider to be dangerous in Stoughton, including the Washington St. and York St. intersection, which is included on the Old Colony Planning Council's most hazardous intersection list.

Wanted: Meals on Wheels Driver

The Stoughton Council on Aging is looking for a Meels on Wheels driver on Fridays to help deliver meals to housebound seniors in Stoughton.

For more information, call the Senior Center at 781-344-8882 (press 1 for the Council on Aging and 1 to speak to the receptionist) or stop by the Senior Center at 110 Rockland St.

Malcolm & Parsons Food Pantry Drive

Drop off any canned goods or non-perishable items at Malcolm & Parsons Insurance Agency's downtown Stoughton office (770 Washington St.) during the months of July and August and Malcolm & Parsons will match the donation.

All proceeds and donations will be distributed to the two local food pantries in Stoughton.

"These are the months when the food pantries are in need the most," Jack Raeke of Malcolm & Parsons wrote in an email.  "We have a kiddie Pool set up in our office and hope to fill it with can goods and non perishables. As we did last year Malcolm and Parsons has agreed to match the value of all the donations! THE POOL HAS A LOT MORE ROOM."

Stoughton's Weekend Weather Forecast

According to the National Weather Service, showers are likely on Friday, with possible periods of heavy rain and a chance of thunderstorms. Friday's high temperature will be in the upper 70s.

The rain clears in time for Saturday and Sunday though - both days will be mostly sunny with temperatures in the low to mid 80s with a light wind.
