Ahavath Torah Congregation continues its acclaimed Hausman Memorial Free Speech Lecture Series on Wednesday, July 11 at 7:00 PM with Lt. General "Black Hawk Down" Boykin. The topic for his talk is A General's Perspective: US-Israel Relations - The Ties That Bind. A special Meet and Greet event with Boykin will begin at 5:00 PM, with admission at $100 per person. General admission will begin at 7:00 PM at $20 per person. Ahavath Torah Congregation is located at 1179 Central St., Stoughton, MA.

 

LTG (ret.) Jerry Boykin was one of the original members of the US Army's Delta Force. He was privileged to ultimately command these elite warriors in combat operations. Later, Jerry Boykin commanded all the Army's Green Berets as well as the Special Warfare Center and School.

 

In his thirty-six years in the army, LTG Boykin also served a tour with the CIA. He has participated in clandestine operations around the world and served his last four years in the Army as the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence. He has played a role in almost every recent major American military operation over the past four decades, serving in Grenada, Somalia, and Iraq. He is currently an author and teaches at Hampden-Sydney College (Virginia).

Most people might remember his exploits surrounding the Black Hawk Down incident n 1993. His books include Never Surrender: A Soldier's Journey to the Crossroads of Faith and Freedom, and served as team leader for the Competitive Analysis The Team BII Report

General Boykin is one of this country's leading experts on defense policy, terrorism and the US-Israel relationship.

Ahavath Torah Congregation Synagogue, located on Central Street, just past the intersection with Pearl Street, serves 250 Jewish families from Stoughton and the surrounding communities of Bridgewater, Canton, Easton, Foxboro, Norton and Randolph. The family-oriented Jewish (Conservative) Congregation was founded in 1919 and has been located at the current building since 1970. 

Ahavath Torah houses the Rabbi Henry Gerson Religious School.  Class times are Tue, from 4pm to 6pm and Sun, from 9am to noon.  The number for the religious school is 781-344-8755.  The Synagogue also has adult education classes, Jewish youth organizations and a sisterhood and a brotherhood. 

The current Rabbi is Jonathan Hausman.
