A tribute to the divas of pop and jazz, featurng local jazz vocalist Lisa Yves, will light up the evening at Ahavath Torah Congregation on Sat., March 9, at 8:00 PM. The evening highlights music of Barbara Streisand, Carol King,Whitney Houston, Carly Simon, Aretha Franklin, Cher, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Buble and more. Price includes pastry, coffee and tea. Originally from New York, Lisa Yves has been living, performing and recording albums in Massachusetts since 1995. She has produced and recorded three Jazz for Kids CDs with Emmy award-winning composer, Brad Hatfield. She was featured in Jazziz magazine and The Boston Globe, Billboard and Los Angeles Times. She was a finalist in the 2004 Boston Pops talent search and sang in Symphony Hall. She has appeared with Harry Connick, Jr.

Yves will be accompanied by Tal Shalom-Kobi on bass and Miki Matsuki on drums.

Ahavath Torah Congregation Synagogue, located on Central Street, just past the intersection with Pearl Street, serves 250 Jewish families from Stoughton and the surrounding communities of Bridgewater, Canton, Easton, Foxboro, Norton and Randolph. The family-oriented Jewish (Conservative) Congregation was founded in 1919 and has been located at the current building since 1970. 

Ahavath Torah houses the Rabbi Henry Gerson Religious School.  Class times are Tue, from 4pm to 6pm and Sun, from 9am to noon.  The number for the religious school is 781-344-8755.  The Synagogue also has adult education classes, Jewish youth organizations and a sisterhood and a brotherhood. 

The current Rabbi is Jonathan Hausman.
