Mansfield Elementary School Evacuated After Substance Found in Letter At approximately 10:57 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, Mansfield Public Safety Dispatch responded to a call reporting that a staff member at the Robinson Elementary School had opened a letter from the mail containing a white powdery substance. Mansfield Fire Chief Neal Boldrighini said the employee was transported to Norwood Hospital as a precautionary measure. Early Morning Fire in Stoughton Leaves 17 Homeless An early morning fire on May 1 at a multi-family home on Park Street in Stoughton displaced 17 people, including an infant, Stoughton Fire Chief Mark Dolloff said. While five families were displaced, there were no reports of injuries to civilians or to the crews that responded, according to SFD Captain Doug Campbell. The cause of the fire was electrical and it started in the ceiling between the 2nd and 3rd floors, according to the State Fire Marshal's office. Bank Robbery Suspect in Norton Identified Norton Police Detectives have identified the Mansfield Bank robbery suspect as Ramon Felix, 27, of Quincy.  A bank employee told the Norton Police Department that a male entered the Mansfield Bank on W. Main Street in Norton at about 6 p.m. on April 21, approached a teller and handed her a note requesting money and stating that he had a weapon.  No weapon was shown to the teller. Teens Allegedly Held at Knifepoint at Stoughton's Skate Park Stoughton Police responded to the Stoughton skate park, located behind the stands of the Stoughton High football field and across from the O'Donnell Middle School, at 5:04 p.m. on April 13 for a report of stolen bikes. Police found that two teen victims were allegedly threatened at knifepoint for the two bikes by the two 17-year-old perpetrators, according to the SPD Facebook page.  Both perpetrators were arrested. Fatal Easton Crash Kills Norton Man A Foundry Street accident in Easton resulted in the death of a Norton man Tuesday night, April 10, according to Easton Police. Easton Police Chief Allen Krajcik said in a statement that Eric Gryzboski, 36, of Eisenhower Drive in Norton, went off the road while heading westbound at approximately 10:45 p.m. and crashed his 2002 GMC pickup truck into a large tree near the Norton town line. Thousands Lose Power in Stoughton Almost 11,000 National Grid customers in Stoughton (90 percent of customers) lost power last Saturday afternoon, March 31, as a result of a breaker that opened at a National Grid substation on Sumner St. in Stoughton, according a spokesperson for National Grid. The Sumner St. substation also serves a small amount of customers in North Easton, where there were also reports of outages. Power was restored within a few hours. Stoughton Police Recover About 25 Pounds of Marijuana in Drug Bust Detectives from the Stoughton Police Department arrested a Duxbury man living in Stoughton, after recovering approximately 25 pounds of marijuana from a home on Fosters Run Tuesday at 2 p.m. Michael L. Fire Damages Stoughton Home A Stoughton home on Winfisky Dr. is deemed a “total loss” by Stoughton Fire Chief Mark Dolloff after a heavy fire damaged the structure Saturday afternoon, March 24. The fire started at 2:01 p.m. at 49 Winfisky Dr., located in a neighborhood off Bay Rd in Stoughton. Stoughton, along with four other nearby towns responded to the scene. A total of six people live in the home. All five residents home at the time of the fire were able to make it out safely, as were the family’s four dogs. Proposed Foxboro Casino Concerns Sharon Resident Matthew Baldassari sees a casino on Route 1 in Foxboro as drawing bad things to Sharon, where he has resided since the mid-1980s. "You're going to see traffic and you're going to see crime go up" in Sharon, Baldassari said Monday. Although Wynn Resorts' proposed casino site is in Foxboro, residents of neighboring communities are joining the fight against it, says Chris Lowery, No Foxboro Casino's volunteer coordinator. Judge Allows Release of Key Materials in DJ Henry Shooting Case A federal judge ruled on March 8 that police material from the night of—and investigation that followed—Easton native Danroy “DJ” Henry’s death in Thornwood, NY will be publicly released as the case’s federal investigation continues.
