As part of the Stoughton Public Library and Stoughton Youth Commission's annual Earth Day celebration, dozens of children had the chance to see new spring baby farm animals up close. The popular Farm Visit with Dawn Cordeiro took place Saturday morning, April 20 in the Wales French Room of the Stoughton Public Library. Thanks to some wit and charm during the casual and formal wear portions of the competition, grace during the opening and closing dance routines, and a soulful rendition of Jason Mraz's "I Won't Give Up" during the talent portion, Stoughton High senior Jack D'Addieco was named the 2013 winner of the annual Mr. SHS competition. The male pageant and fundraiser for the senior class was held last Friday night, April 5 at the Stoughton High auditorium. The Paris Cabaret, home of the Starline Room Dinner Theatre, at 49 Monk Street, off Route 138 in Stoughton, is wrapping up its production of "The Music Man" this weekend.  The month long run of "The Music Man" began March 9, with the final three performances scheduled for April 5 and 6 at 6:30 p.m. and April 7 at 12:30 p.m. For dinner and show reservations call: 781-297-SHOW(7469). The Cedar Hill Golf Course was the place to be in Stoughton the morning of Saturday, March 30. The Stoughton Community Events Committee was holding its annual Easter Egg Hunt.  There were hundreds of children and their families waiting in line to meet the Easter Bunny and the others ready to make a mad dash across the golf course which was covered with easter eggs ready to be picked. About 50 people gathered in the Wales French Room of the Stoughton Public Library last Wednesday for an early celebration of Passover as part of a Stoughton Reads Together event. The eight-day Jewish holiday officially starts at sundown on Monday, March 25 and commemorates the story of Moses and "the emancipation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt," according to Chabad.org.  Passover is marked by a Seder on the first two nights, "a fifteen-step family-oriented tradition and ritual-packed feast," including the reciting of the Haggadah, which "describes in detail the story of the …

Take a look at photos from the Stoughton High student/faculty basketball game and video from the dunk contest, both held March 14 at the Stoughton High gym. The students took a 27-16 lead into the half, and despite a late rally from the faculty squad, held on for a 39-36 victory.  The March Madness event was a fundraiser for the SHS Athletics Department and the SHS Junior Class.  The student team, made up of non-varsity players, was led by Andrew Kelly, Malachi Baugh, Luc Josue-Pierre Louis, Junior Correia, Imani Pina and Jack D'Addieco, going up against the faculty squad which included …
Typically, when the Stoughton Police and Fire Departments trade in their guns and hoses for hockey skates they are on opposing teams, but this past Saturday, the SPD and SFD joined forces at the Metropolis (Ponkapoag) Ice Rink in Canton for the Fifth Annual Charity Hockey Benefit.  Members of the Stoughton Police and Fire Departments played on a split-squad team against the Randolph Police and Fire Departments. That game was followed by the Canton Police and Fire Departments taking on the Boston Police. Randolph and Boston both skated to victory.  All proceeds from this year's event went to …
The Little Mermaid, a Disney favorite for young and old, will be presented by The Little Theatre of Stoughton this weekend at Ahavath Torah Congregation, 1179 Central St. in Stoughton. Take a look at photos and video (including before and after comparisons) from the weekend blizzard, which dumped more than 30 inches of snow on Stoughton.  The Stoughton DPW estimates the town received approximately 32 inches of snow. Meanwhile, WBZ reported on its broadcast that Stoughton had 31.5 inches of snow. It was the second highest snow accumulation total WBZ collected, only surpassed by West Boylston, which WBZ said received 34.5 inches.   Post snowfall photos/videos were taken around 10 a.m. Sunday. The Great Hall at Stoughton's Town Hall was packed Friday night, Jan. 18 for a sellout performance of the "Murder at the Library" production, a fundraiser for Stoughton's Support Our Library Association (SOLA). Take a look at photos from the O'Donnell Middle School 8th Grade Winter Concert, held Wednesday, Jan. 16 in the Stoughton High auditorium. The 8th Grade Band and Wednesday Jazz Band, under the direction of John Kearns, and the 8th Grade Chorus, under the direction of Betty Bauman, each performed a number of selections. A busload of teens from the Stoughton Life Teen program. recently volunteered at the annual Christmas in the City event in Boston, helping to make the holidays a little brighter for homeless children and families in need. The Stoughton Life Teen volunteers were joined by members of the Stoughton YAC, as well as other volunteers from the area. Stoughton Life Teen went on Saturday Dec. 15 to help set up and decorate for the party, held Sunday Dec. 16, which was held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in South Boston. The Stoughton High School Music Department presented its 2012 Holiday Concert this past Friday evening (Dec. 14) at the Stoughton High auditorium. The concert featured the SHS Concert Choir and SHS Jazz Choir under the direction of Griffin Coombs as well as the SHS Concert Bands and SHS Tuesday Jazz Band, directed by John Mange. The parade, run by the Stoughton Community Events Committee, started at Stoughton High, making its way down Pearl St. and through the downtown, ending at Faxon Park where the star of the parade, Santa Claus, greeted children at the gazebo. ***
Stoughton lost to Canton on Thanksgiving for the first time since 2004, with the Bulldogs earning a shocking 28-26 victory in overtime Thursday in Stoughton. It was the first time in the 87-year history of the Thanksgiving rivalry that the game was decided in overtime. Frankie Morris had two touchdowns for Stoughton, while Malachi Baugh had a rushing touchdown and Dan Eckler had a touchdown pass to Marcus Middleton.
