Stoughton Patch is bringing back the "In Case You Missed It" Week-in-Review column, which will help give you a one-stop place to review all of this past week's headlines. Highlights of the past week (Sunday, April 17 - Saturday, April 23) include Congressman Stephen Lynch's visit to town, the nine Stoughton runners who took part in the Boston Marathon, and a Stoughton resident who helped to rescue a dog on the Stoughton-Easton line. Stoughton was hit with its second major snowstorm this winter, when the town was buried by 19 inches of accumulation this past Wednesday. Between this snowstorm and the one on December 26, Stoughton has already seen close to 40 inches of snow—and we're only halfway through January. While the storm created a bit of a real-life winter wonderland in town, the realities of a major storm like this hit home as power was out in many areas around town, especially in north Stoughton. Schools were closed on Wednesday, but were back in session the next day, even as many other towns in the area continued…
The week started off with some sad news. Ace and Boo, the two chihuahuas the Stoughton Fire Department rescued from a house fire on Ralph Mann Drive New Year's Eve, died early Sunday morning, January 2. Sisters Ashley and Melissa Belyea, holding back tears, spoke to Patch about their dogs, whom they affectionately referred to as "the boys." Main roads were slightly wet, but generally down to bare pavement, …
* Last Sunday morning it was already snowing—and it kept snowing until midday last Monday, with the heaviest snowfall taking place during the overnight hours Sunday into Monday. Stoughton ended up with upwards of 18 inches of snow. While places like Town Hall and the Library opened last Monday, the town was effectively snowed in—many of the town's businesses were closed and residents spent the day digging out from the blizzard. School was already off for winter vacation, but it is safe to say school children would have otherwise had a snow day. High winds, which lasted into Tuesday, well …
Last week began with a small snowstorm, with Stoughton picking up a few inches of accumulation last Monday afternoon and evening.  The snow was light, but steady, and it quickly made the roads slick, just in time for the commute home from work.  Police reports indicate that there were 30 minor car accidents around town Monday afternoon, as a result of the snowy conditions.  However, last week's snowfall looks to be a mere warm-up for what meteorologists are predicting for tomorrow (12/27).  South of Boston, including the Stoughton area, is expected to see more than a foot of snow between …
