Six O'Donnell Middle School students and two Stoughton High students recently participated in the 2012 Southeastern Massachusetts School Bandmasters Association Honors Festival.
The following is a press release from the Stoughton High Music Department: Eight music students from the O’Donnell Middle School and Stoughton High School recently participated in the 2012 Southeastern Massachusetts School Bandmasters Association Honors Festival. The festival was held at the East Middle School in Braintree on Saturday May 5. Stoughton High School Freshman Abigail Roane performed with the Honors Choir. Matthew Williams, a freshman at SHS, performed with the Honors Concert Band playing trombone. This Friday, May 18, a Beatles cover band will be performing at the Stoughton High Auditorium. This concert is a fundraiser for the Stoughton Schools Music Department's P.O.P.S. organization (Parents Of Performing Students).

Take a look at a selection of the student art work that was on display that evening outside the auditorium and in the Superintendent's wing of the building (in the media gallery above). The production will take place Saturday, May 12 at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. and a late Sunday matinee performance at 5 p.m.
The Stoughton High School Drama Department will be in full force this weekend as they put on their annual production, "Check Please." This rendition of "Check Please," originally written by Jonathan Rand, is designed by the dedicated drama students here at Stoughton High. The production will take place Saturday, May 12 at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. and a late Sunday matinee performance at 5 p.m. "Check Please" is a comedy about the difficulties of speed dating. The main roles will be played by Stoughton High students Katherine Scabia and Ryan Loughran. Megan DeSimone is the director of the production. The following is a press release from the Stoughton High Fine Arts Department: The Stoughton High School Fine Arts Department will present its 2012 Spring Fling Art Show and Concert on Friday, May 11. The Art Show will begin at 6 p.m. The concert portion will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the SHS auditorium. The Stoughton High concert and jazz bands and concert and jazz choirs received a number of awards and honors at the Festivals of Music, a national competition held in New York City.
The following is a press release from the Stoughton High Music Department: On March 30, the Stoughton High Music Department traveled to New York City to participate in the Festivals of Music, a national competition featuring groups from Massachusetts, Vermont, Colorado, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York. The members of the SHS Concert Band, Tuesday Jazz Band, Wednesday Jazz Band, Concert Choir, and Jazz Choir competed on Friday before a panel of collegiate judges and students from various other schools. The students of Stoughton High School were recognized for a high level of performance by the festival adjudicators and administrators. The following is a press release from Judith Murray Smith; photos in media gallery taken by Christine Iacobucci: The art students of Judith Murray Smith are displaying over 50 drawings and paintings at the Stoughton Public Library Staircase Gallery for the month of April. Students participate in Kreative Kids (ages 5-10) and Talented Teens (ages 10-18) at the Childrens Museum in Easton; and the Sunday Session (6-18) at the Felos Art Center in Stoughton. Pencil, charcoal, prismacolor colored pencil, acrylic, and watercolor are used to create images from familiar objects such as shoes, toys and tools. Emphasis is placed on direct observation, and right/left brain drawing. This year, additional focus was placed on painting in the styles of …

Stoughton’s Paris Cabaret/Starline Room Dinner Theatre is presenting its final three shows of “Bye Bye Birdie,” a rock and roll musical, this upcoming weekend.
The Paris Cabaret/Starline Room Dinner Theatre located in Stoughton (on Monk St.) along with students from The Starline Academy for the Performing Arts have been presenting “Bye Bye Birdie” in the month of March. Bye Bye Birdie is America's Beloved Rock and Roll musical with a book by Michael Stewart, lyrics by Lee Adams, and music by Charles Strouse, who wrote the musical Annie. The show opened March 9. The final three performances are scheduled for this upcoming weekend: The Paris Cabaret is located at 49 Monk St. off Rt. 138 in Stoughton. Photos and video of SHS at the 44th Annual Berklee High School Jazz Festival.
Stoughton High musicians performed at the 44th Annual Berklee High School Jazz Festival at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston earlier this month. According to the Berklee Festival website, more than 5,000 people watched the more than 200 high school jazz ensembles that performed at the March 10 competition. Stoughton High’s Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Choir had 7th place finishes in their respective classes. The SHS Jazz Combo finished fourth in its class. Michael Silveira (Combo and Ensemble) and Kassandra Melo (Choir) received individual performance awards. The combo and ensemble are directed by Dan Davey, while the choir is directed by Griffin Coombs. Photo and video highlights are posted in the media gallery above.
