Where to Celebrate New Year's Eve: Ringing in 2012 in and Around Stoughton

A few ideas to help you plan your New Year’s Eve in and around Stoughton.

As we bid farewell to 2011, and usher in 2012, where will you be watching the ball drop?

Do you plan to stay local and wine and dine in Stoughton, attend a house party with friends, order in Chinese and drink your sparkling wine at home, or venture out to celebrate?

Below are a few options for ringing in the New Year. Some events may sell out — call in advance.

1. New Year’s Eve Celebration at Ahavath Torah

Ring in the New Year in style! On Sat., Dec. 31, at 7 p.m., celebrate the New Year at Ahavath Torah Congregation in Stoughton with a full evening of cocktails, a gourmet dinner from hors d'oeuvres to dessert, and dancing to the amazing Boston Baked Blues with Vinny Serino. Boston Baked Blues is one of Boston's best blues bands, and a mainstay of the blues scene for nearly twenty-five years. They are multiple winners of the Boston Music Awards.

Enjoy a full evening starting at 7 p.m., of fabulous complimentary cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, a gourmet dinner, champagne toast, dessert, coffee and tea, along with the Boston Baked Blues, all for just $80 per person. Or, arrive at 9:00 PM to dance to the sound of Boston Baked Blues, and to top off the evening with a champagne toast, dessert, coffee and tea, all for just $40 per person. There will be a cash bar, raffles, and more.

2. New Year’s Eve at the Village Pub

Join the Village Pub (Washington St. in Stoughton) and DJ Cream for a New Year’s Eve celebration. There will be an appetizer buffet and a champagne toast. Tickets are $15 at the door.

3. Spend New Year’s Eve with High Speed Jesus at the Last Shot

The band High Speed Jesus will be performing at The Last Shot in Stoughton on New Year’s Eve. There is no cover charge and there will be a free champagne toast at midnight.

4. Ring in the New Year at Doyle’s in Brockton

Doyle’s Pub and Grill in Brockton (327 North Pearl St., just over the Stoughton-Brockton line) will have live entertainment courtesy of singer Kristen Allen. There will be complimentary party favors and a champagne toast at midnight.

5. New Year’s at the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton

Starting at 7 p.m., enjoy a night of Irish music, dancing, buffet dinner and champagne at the Irish Cultural Centre's New Year's Eve Party. Tickets are $50. The Irish Cultural Centre is located off Route 138 in Canton (200 New Boston Dr.), not far from the Stoughton line.

6. New Year’s Eve at Patriot Place in Foxboro

7. Fireworks in Westwood

Enjoy some fireworks this New Year's Eve. Head over to Westwood High School (220 Nahatan St. in Westwood) at 7 p.m. for the annual New Year's Eve Fireworks in Westwood.

8. Bowling at Kings in Dedham

Up for a little celebratory bowling? Try New Years Eve at Kings in Dedham at Legacy Place. Enjoy a four-course, pre-fixe meal and a champagne toast. Tickets are $45.

9. New Year’s Day at the Halfway Cafe in Canton

Need a little post-celebration recovery? Head over the the Halfway Cafe in Canton at Cobbs Corner on Sunday, January 1 for brunch starting at 10:00 a.m. Or, get the gang together for some Sunday sports and wings. Starting at noon on January 1, feast on all you can eat wings at The Halfway Cafe. Check the menu for prices.

10. A Rockin’ New Year’s for Kids

Is it really possible to rock New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day once you have children? Yes! Here are some easy and inexpensive ways to celebrate the New Year with kids:
