Super Bowl XLVI Predictions: Patriots or Giants?

Patch editors weigh in on Sunday’s big game.

Patriots or Giants … who are you taking?

Super Bowl XLVI is almost here. Enough of the hype, trash talk and analysis – we’re ready for some football.

On the eve of Super Sunday, several Patch editors took the time to answer the most asked question over the past two weeks – who will win Super Bowl XLVI? Here are their answers:

Courtney Jansson, Foxborough Patch Editor: I feel this is going to be a close game. Both teams are extremely talented, however in the end, the Patriots will have more drive to pull this out! – Patriots 28, Giants 21

Michael Hardman, Boston Patch Regional Editor: Giants score on five field goals while the Pats find the endzone on two Rob Gronkowski scores. I can't lose. The Pats are my AFC team and the Giants my NFC team. – Giants 15, Patriots 14

Jeffrey Pickette, Stoughton Patch Editor: A reversal of the Week 9 result between these two clubs at Gillette back in November. In what can only be described as poetic justice, Tom Brady leads a go-ahead touchdown drive for the fourth straight game against the Giants since 2007. Only unlike the most recent two (Super Bowl XLII and Week 9 of this season), the Patriots defense stops Eli Manning – no fluke catches this time – and New England holds on for the win, completing the Revenge Tour 2012 – two regular season wins against the Jets keeping them out of the playoffs (2010 playoff loss); playoff wins against Denver (2005 playoff loss), Baltimore (2009 playoff loss), and the Giants (Super Bowl XLII loss). And, of course the Super Bowl is played in Indianapolis (site of the 2006 AFC Championship loss). – Patriots 24, Giants 20

Kelly Mello, Norton Patch Editor: I think it's going to be a frustratingly close game. But in the end, Patriots will pull it off. – Patriots 17, Giants 14

Patrick Maguire, Easton Patch Editor: Tom Brady is MVP because he puts together a game-winning touchdown drive in the fourth quarter during a tie ballgame. The first team to score will be the Giants after the Pats defer the coin toss in the first quarter. – Patriots 34, Giants 27

Mike Gleason, Wrentham Patch Editor: I'm going on a gut feeling here. All the indicators are going the Giants' way, but I'm not going to bet against Tom Brady. – Patriots 27, Giants 24

Jeremie Smith, Medfield Patch Editor: This game is going to be close … similar to the previous four Super Bowls the Pats have appeared in over the last 10 years. Tom Brady WILL rebound from a poor performance in the AFC Championship game and a Week 9 loss to the Giants. The breaks WILL NOT go Eli Manning’s way this time around and the Pats WILL ultimately get revenge on their Super Bowl XLII loss. There’s three things you can never bet against: Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and an inspired/motivated team. Pats get it done and win this one for Myra Kraft. – Patriots 24, Giants 21
