An early morning fire on May 1 at a multi-family home on Park Street in Stoughton displaced 17 people, including an infant, Stoughton Fire Chief Mark Dolloff said.

While five families were displaced, there were no reports of injuries to civilians or to the crews that responded, according to SFD Captain Doug Campbell. Campbell said all residents self-evacuated. The Red Cross is assisting these residents, he said. 

Kat Powers of the Red Cross said that four of the 17 victims are children under the age of 12.

Dr. Marguerite Rizzi, Superintendent of the Stoughton Public Schools, said five of the victims are students in the Stoughton Public Schools. 

The Stoughton Schools are stepping up to help these families, who lost most, if not all of their possessions. Because of the "extensive damage," Chief Dolloff said he considered the home to be a "total loss."

The high school students are Dianna Manning and Kevin Leveque, Dr. Rizzi said. Gift card donations are being collected at the Stoughton High School office.

Marial Nozin and Autymn Eloir are at the middle school, and donations there are being collected at the O'Donnell Middle School office. 

There is one student at the Dawe Elementary School, but this student has a sibling at OMS and any donations will be shared with her family, Dr. Rizzi said.

There is also going to be a brownie sale at Thursday’s “Knight of Excellence” at the O’Donnell Middle School, with all the proceeds going to the fire victims. The “Knight of Excellence” takes place May 3 from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

A Stoughton business, Daddy's Dairy, will be donating 20 percent of their sales on Saturday and Sunday (May 5 and 6) to the fire victims and will match any additional donations for the fire victims made those days at Daddy's, according to their Facebook page.

Bela Santos of “BelaBody Fitness” is holding a special class at her studio (2 Canton Street, Suite 117) Sunday, May 6 at 9 a.m. to raise money for her client and friend, Lindsey Maloney, another victim of the Park St. fire.

Lindsey, Chris and their baby girl, Quinn, lost everything in the fire, Santos told About Town’s Mark Snyder.
